Queen’s University Belfast – Ashby Tower Phase 1

Housing Queen’s University’s School of Engineering, Ashby Tower contains multiple lecture theatres; teaching areas; research areas; IT suites; offices and meeting rooms. The building’s design was focused on creating a multidisciplinary facility of teaching, prototyping, research and individual study.

The refurbishment of Ashby Tower was particularly complex as the building remained fully operational throughout. This meant Michael Nugent Ltd had to work in a programmed manner over four phases, with careful consideration of the building’s users during each phase. We also had to ensure our work did not interfere with the university’s testing facility, where critical research was continually being carried out. Services provided included LPHW; heating installation (along with radiator and thermal insulation fitting); sanitation; plumbing and ventilation. Mist suppression systems, medical gas supplies and full clean room installation were also implemented.
