Strangford Integrated College, Newtownards

NUGENT is pleased to be working alongside Felix O’Hare to construct the new £30 million state-of-the-art Strangford Integrated College. Construction commenced in 2024 and is due to be complete by 2026.

New school facilities include modern classrooms for all subjects, a library, sixth form centre, college hall and a number of outdoor amenities including three playing fields and four tennis courts.

Our Mechanical services consist of:

• New School heating provided by Oil Fired boiler heating system
• Installation of Pre Fabricated Boiler house skids
• Underfloor Heating throughout
• Pressurised Unvented Hot Water system
• Boosted Hot and Cold Water Systems
• CAT 5 cold water system serving Lab sinks
• MVHRs and Hybrid heat recovery ventilation systems
• Fume Cupboards
• Rainwater Harvesting system serving all WCs
• Kitchen Supply and extract system
• AHU serving Assembly Hall
• Gas Detection System
• Compressed Air System
• Welding Extract Ventilation
• Oxy/Acetylene Welding Systems
• Duct Extraction System
• Emergency Eye Wash stations
• New Mains water distribution system with Fire Hydrants
• BMS Controls System

Our Electrical services consist of:

• Main switchgear and distribution
• Internal, emergency and external lighting
• General Power
• Structured cabling
• Fire Alarms
• Disabled refuge
• Disabled toilet alarms
• Intruder alarms
• CCTV
• Access control
• Class Change bells
• Specialist AV and lighting systems
• TV system
• Induction loops
• Lightning Protection system.

Progress on site

Phase 1 works were completed over the Summer of 2024. We are currently working on Phase 2 (the New College), this consists of Wings A, B, C and Core blocks, which is planned to hand over March 2026. Phase 3 will start after the decent of the existing school into the new school March 2026. Phase 3 includes Wing D of the new school and a New Sports Building and will be complete November 2026. The Sports Block heating is provided by 2no Air Source Heat Pump systems serving Hot Water and Heating Systems.
