Queen’s University Belfast, One Elmwood

The new £30m One Elmwood has replaced the iconic Students’ Union building that originally opened in 1967. The original Student Union went through major refurbishments in 2005 which NUGENT carried out the MEP services.

One Elmwood includes the Students Union, Students Centre, vibrant social and commercial spaces such as the Mandela Hall and state-of-the-art facilities for clubs and societies. The University will accommodate 25,000 students and staff.

One Elmwood building is targeting a BREEAM excellent and is carried out to full BIM lvl 2 compliance.

To reduce carbon footprint, waste & time on the project, NUGENT’s OSM team at their Pomeroy HQ designed, planned, manufactured, pre-assembled, tested & commissioned the units prior to arriving on site. Alongside providing complex MEP services, NUGENT supplied BIM Level 2 & services coordination for One Elmwood. NUGENT have utilized MMC, DFMA, Off Site Fabrication and Lean construction techniques for the project delivery.

We are delighted to have provided MEP services for the stunning building alongside Main Contractors Felix O’Hare.
