The Store Hotel, Oxford

The former family run Boswell & Co Department store has underwent an extensive refurbishment to a 4* boutique hotel with fascinating heritage. Key features of the historic facades have been retained.

The historic Oxford department store established in 1738 has been a prestigious landmark to Oxford for over 280 years and formerly announced its closure in 2019. The announcement of the Boswells site undergoing a transformation to a modern hotel was announced in late 2020 by lead developer Reef Group and Oxford City Council. The tourism hotspot will now provide a high quality boutique  hotel with restaurants which is much needed for the city centre of Oxford.

The hotel has 101 bedrooms, ground floor restaurant, rooftop bar, restorative spa well-being facilities, gym and co-working spaces.  An additional fifth floor has been added to the original Boswell department store to include the stunning rooftop bar overlooking the city. Well done to everyone involved and Main Contractors Gilbert-Ash on the stunning hotel.
