An update on our ongoing works at Alkerden Academy as the project moves closer to completion.
NUGENT are proud to be delivering the MEP package for GRAHAM on the landmark Alkerden Academy development in Ebbsfleet Garden City, Kent.
Valued at £80 million, Alkerden Academy will become the largest educational facility in Kent, spanning an impressive 11.1-hectare site and providing more than 2,200 places for primary and secondary school pupils.
Designed as a single-phase development to minimise disruption, the project remains on track for completion in July 2026.
The scheme has been developed in line with the latest sustainability standards, incorporating BIM Level 2 processes and targeting a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.


Once complete, the Academy will include:
• Five-storey secondary school
• Sixth-form campus
• Two-storey primary school
• Nursery provision
• 25-place specialist resource provision for autistic pupils
• Art, technology, science and music studios
• Industry-standard community sports centre
• 4G football pitches
• Associated car parking and access roads


Recent progress onsite includes:
• MVHR (Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery) installation progressing throughout
• Off-site manufactured (OSM) plant rooms delivered and positioned onsite
• HVAC installation works ongoing
• Primary school windcatchers fully installed and commissioned
• External LTHW (Low Temperature Hot Water) pipework and trace heating progressing well
• Ventilation final-fix grille installation nearing completion
• Sprinkler system installation nearing completion
• Sanitaryware final-fix works nearing completion
• Science laboratory services fully installed
• AOV (Automatic Opening Vent) and smoke shaft systems installed throughout
• Sprinkler pump house works nearing completion
• LTHW, sprinkler, ventilation and CAT 5 BCW services installed to science laboratories
• NVHR (Natural Ventilation Heat Recovery) systems installed throughout and entering final commissioning stages
