NUGENT team on board the new Shimna Integrated College, Newcastle Co.Down

NUGENT are thrilled to be on board the new Shimna Integrated College based in Newcastle Co.Down. The new £19 Million college will deliver state-of-the-art facilities for the students and teachers within the Newcastle, Co.Down area. Replacing the current Post Primary School which was founded in 1994.

Shimna Integrated College is 10,000m2 spanning across three storey’s. The new all inclusive college will deliver modern, energy efficient facilities teaching 620 pupils of all abilities in the heart of the natural beauty of Mourne Mountains.

Pre-Construction Director, Colum Sheppard said, “We are delighted to be on board the magnificent new Shimna Integrated College alongside Glasgiven. The project is designed to be energy efficient which is the way forward within the industry. The school development will boost local employment to the area which is always a bonus to the community”.

NUGENT MEP team are working behind the scenes on the project and expected to arrive on site in the upcoming weeks of September, 2023. The project is expected to be complete summer, 2025 for the students new academic year beginning September, 2025.

• Domestic and sanitary public health installations.
• Rainwater harvesting system utilized to supply recycled water for flushing to all the toilets.
• Laboratory gas, compressed air and Oxy/Acetylene installation.
• Local fume extraction within manufacturing Dept.
• Mobile re-circulating fume cupboards for science rooms
• Central Building Management System to ensure efficient operation of all building services systems.
