NUGENT delighted to provide MEP services at Rainham Leisure Centre, Borough

Following the closure of the Chafford Sports Complex, the Havering council have decided to construct a new leisure centre to replace the dated building – Rainham Leisure Centre.

The Havering Council are investing in its leisure centres across the Borough. The scheme is in conjunction with the Consideration Constructors Scheme alongside Havering Council. The council have partnered with Everyone Active to develop the leisure facilities for the local community.

Based at Rainham recreation ground, the leisure facilities will bring much attraction when complete. The Leisure Centre will offer a range of facilities including a dance and spinning studio, 72 station fitness suite and six-lane swimming pool.

NUGENT are delighted to be providing MEP services for the state-of-art facilities alongside Main Contractors Piperhill Construction. The team at Piperhill Construction have been busy this past few months with excavation of the foundations for the leisure centre. The site is progressing rapidly and our MEP team of experts are arriving on site later this month.

Our MEP services include but not limited to;

  • Air source heat pump
  • BEMS Controls systems
  • Mechanical ventilation
  • Hot/cold water services
  • VRF heating and cooling
  • Gas fired heating system
  • Switchgear and LV sub-distribution system
  • Small Power system including: Gym, dance and spin rooms
  • Fire and security systems including CCTV, Access Control etc.
  • Multizone PA and TV systems

Electrical Pre-Construction Manager, Matt Potter said, “It is fantastic to see the Rainham project progressing rapidly now on site after delays with Covid. The leisure complex will facilities to benefit everyone in the community. We are delighted to have been part of the Pre-Construction stage and our team of experts providing MEP services”.

It is expected the new build leisure centre will be complete in June 2023 and open to the public shortly after.
