City of London Freemen’s School Swimming Pool Successfully Handed Over!

November 15, 2017

Works and commissioning have been completed at the City of London Freemen’s School’s new £30m swimming pool and the building has been successfully handed over.

This project consisted of the complete refurbishment of the Ashtead 18th century mansion house and the construction of an eye catching 25m six-lane swimming pool and adjoining events space. The newly constructed pool building replaces the school’s original building, which was destroyed following a fire in 2014, and relocates it from the west to the east side of the campus next to the existing sporting facilities.

The construction of this state-of-the-art sports and leisure facility is the second phase of a 2-part refurbishment programme for the school, with phase 1 in 2014 seeing the completion of a music school and boarding house. Freemen’s are yet to decide how the new facility will be made available to local schools and the public through its outreach programme.

Working in conjunction with main contractor Gilbert Ash, Michael Nugent Ltd provided all mechanical and electrical services for City of London Freeman’s outstanding project. Specialised services such as the swimming pool filtration system and ventilation were installed, in addition to heating & domestic water and BMS Systems. All electrical systems such as lighting, security/fire alarms, general power accessories and solar systems were also provided. MNL have a wealth of experience providing M&E services for swimming pools and leisure facilities with this project further enhancing our portfolio.
