Job Summary

NUGENT are seeking to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor for Mechanical and Electrical projects. You will be a motivated and reliable individual who brings enthusiasm and positively to the team and you should enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.

This role can be based either in our Pomeroy or Belfast Office, depending on experience and candidate’s location (travel may be required to our other offices from time to time).

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Speak with suppliers and sub-contractors to maintain or form new working relationships to ensure the most competitive tender possible for each specific project
  • Carry out on-site measurements of works to ensure all parties are in agreement
  • Conduct other duties as directed by management
  • Co-ordinate work effort to ensure that the requirements of the client are delivered
  • Measure and value completed work and variations in work during contracts, for agreement of interim payments and the final account
  • Liaise with clients, sub-contractors and suppliers to ensure information, costs, profitability and value meet the requirements of each project
  • Compile subcontract orders for approval
  • Visit site to measure and value works completed
  • Assess subcontractor payment entitlement and process payments
  • Carry out reconciliation of cost and value to date/forecast to keep the management team informed of project performance
  • Work closely with contract and site management staff to support the smooth running of the office and the site, carrying out other duties as required
  • Attend pre-contract meetings, liaise with a wide range of construction professionals, and ensure timely completion of agreed actions
  • Other Adhoc Duties

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 2 years + post graduate experience in a QS role within the Construction Industry
  • Highly motivated hard-working individual who can work on their own or as part as a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Applicants must have a clean driving license
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure
  • String interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-motivated, with a ‘can-do’ approach to work and willingness to learn and assist
  • Organised and disciplined in your planning an approach to work
  • Work well and confidently as part of a team in a busy environment
