MEP Quantity Surveyor

NUGENT carry out large, complex MEP engineering project works in GB, NI & ROI with a workforce of 120 direct employees and 300 sub-contractors.

The role:
NUGENT are seeking to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor for Mechanical and Electrical projects. You will be based between the Pomeroy and Belfast offices. You will be a motivated and reliable individual who brings enthusiasm and positively to the team and you should enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Speak with suppliers and sub-contractors to maintain or form new working relationships to ensure the most competitive tender possible for each specific project
- Carry out on-site measurements of works to ensure all parties are in agreement
- Conduct other duties as directed by management
- Co-ordinate work effort to ensure that the requirements of the client are delivered
- Measure and value completed work and variations in work during contracts, for agreement of interim payments and the final account
- Liaise with clients, sub-contractors and suppliers to ensure information, costs, profitability and value meet the requirements of each project
- Compile subcontract orders for approval
- Visit site to measure and value works completed
- Assess subcontractor payment entitlement and process payments
- Carry out reconciliation of cost and value to date/forecast to keep the management team informed of project performance
- Work closely with contract and site management staff to support the smooth running of the office and the site, carrying out other duties as required
- Attend pre-contract meetings, liaise with a wide range of construction professionals, and ensure timely completion of agreed actions
- Other Adhoc Duties
Skills and Qualifications:
- 2 years + post graduate experience in a QS role within the Construction Industry
- Highly motivated hard-working individual who can work on their own or as part as a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Applicants must have a clean driving license
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure
- String interpersonal and organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Self-motivated, with a ‘can-do’ approach to work and willingness to learn and assist
- Organised and disciplined in your planning an approach to work
- Work well and confidently as part of a team in a busy environment
