Job Summary

The Role

NUGENT are seeking to recruit experienced Mechanical Operatives to support MEP maintenance works across Mid Ulster and the Derry & Strabane area.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Objectives of this Role

The role will include carrying out mechanical installation and maintenance works across Northern Ireland on various contracts.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Carry out mechanical installation and refurbishment works including heating systems, pipework, pumps, valves and plant room upgrades.

  • Assist with boiler house refurbishments and mechanical plant installations.

  • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on mechanical building services systems.

  • Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on heating, plumbing and mechanical systems.

  • Carry out reactive and proactive maintenance across client sites.

  • Ensure all mechanical equipment is operating at optimum performance levels.

  • Assist with modifications, upgrades and new installations where required.

  • Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers and site management.

  • Take responsibility for tools and equipment, ensuring they are maintained to an appropriate standard.

  • Maintain good communication with clients and management teams.

  • Work in accordance with Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental procedures.

  • Work safely, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of yourself, colleagues, customers and visitors.

  • Work both independently and as part of a team carrying out planned maintenance, reactive works, repairs and minor installations.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Applicants must hold a full clean driving licence.

  • Applicants should have a relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Plumbing, Heating, or Building Services, or be time served within the mechanical trade.

  • Experience working on commercial mechanical systems is desirable.

  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure.

  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Self-motivated with a “can-do” attitude and willingness to learn.

  • Organised and disciplined in planning and approach to work.

  • Ability to work confidently as part of a team in a busy environment.
